Solar Garden Lighting Versus Rocky Raccoon
We have three pets in our family two cats and one dog. The cats are indoor pets, and the dog goes in and out during the day, but stays in at night. Well one night while we were all sleeping peacefully. At around two thirty in the morning the dog started barking at the back door as if someone were trying to break into the house! I jumped out of the bed and ran to the back door to see what was going on! I turned on the lights in the back yard and opened the blinds on the back door to see just what was happening. I looked to the left and saw nothing but our solar garden gnomes, and that was all. I looked to the right and saw nothing but our solar fairies, and that was all. The dog calmed down and stopped barking. I figured false alarm and went back to bed to finish sleeping.
The next morning at breakfast we were talking about the night before, and just what it might have been. We looked at the backyard in the light of day and could not find any signs of criminal mischief, or wild animals. The only thing that we found out of the ordinary was the dog’s water bowl was full of muddy water. This seemed very strange so I dumped out the muddy water and gave the dog some fresh water. My wife and I looked at each other and shrugged our shoulders in wonder. Then at the same time we said, “wait until tonight and see if it happens again”.
I couldn’t believe it! The very next night around two o’clock in the morning it happened again! The dog was barking loudly and angrily at the back door. I went to the back door again and turned on the light. I looked to the left and I saw nothing but our solar landscape lights, and that was all. I looked to the right and I saw nothing but our Solar Power lighting, and that was all.
The next morning everything was exactly the same as the morning before. All seemed normal except that the dog’s bowl of water was muddy again. This happened for the next two or three days in a row. I was getting very tired and my nerves were running very thin.
Frustrated as I was. I got on the internet and located a motion sensor garage light with thirty six ultra bright LED’s in it. I purchased it, and in a few days I had it installed on my storage shed in my backyard.
Wow! It happened again about three o’clock the very next morning. The dog was going crazy and barking wildly. I jumped up and could see light comming through the bedroom window from the Solar Lighting that I installed on our storage shed earlier. I opened the blinds and looked out, and I could not believe my eyes. There right in the middle of our backyard I see a family of raccoons. A big male that we called Rocky, a female, and three offspring. My goodness there were five raccoons in our backyard!
Now that I realized just what’s going on, and knowing that a family of very large raccoons is comming into our backyard at night, and cleaning themselves in the dog’s water bowl. I no longer leave the water bowl outside anymore at night for them to do this, and in combination with the solar shed lights these raccoons have not been back for around two months. Now we sleep a whole lot better.
So in the battle of solar garden lighting versus rocky raccoon. We sleep better. Our dog sleeps better. We feel much safer, and Solar Lighting wins again. So close your eyes and say ahh!
